Mormon Church
The Mormon Church claims to be the only true church on the face of the earth. Why? They believe that the church that Christ Himself established started to fall away from the pure truth after the deaths of the Twelve Apostles. What followed was a Great Apostasy. Mormons believe that the fullness of Christ's gospel was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith, who you can learn more about in the section about prophets on this site.
This section is about who Mormons are, what they believe, and why they believe it. Mormons are Christian and Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of their faith. Although they have additional scripture beyond the Bible, they believe strongly in the Bible. They just also believe that they possess more truth than most Christians have from the Bible alone and no additional revelation.
What do Mormons believe about Christ? They believe that He was the Redeemer of all mankind and the Savior of our souls. Like most Christians, they believe in His divinity and worship Him.
What is the Book of Mormon? The Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ and a very important book of scripture in the Mormon religion. It does not replace the Bible, but stands with it as a witness.
What are other Mormon books of scripture? The Bible, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, as well as the Book of Mormon, form the "standard works," the scriptural core of Mormon beliefs.
How is the Church organized? The Church is organized through prophets, apostles, elders, teachers, and so forth. Mormons believe that the priesthood, the power and authority of God, sets their leaders apart.
Doesn't the Mormon Church have a long history? Yes, and interesting. Much has happened in the Church since its organization in 1830.
What do Mormons believe? Much of the truth Mormons have to offer is familiar to most Christians.
